Hytrol Conveyor Project for Pearl Harbor

American Warehouse Systems was fortunate enough to participate in a large conveyor project for Peal Harbor Naval Base.  The defense distribution center was badly outdated and needed a more efficient system to induct and distribute product.  The system needed to span two buildings and traverse a fairly busy base road.  One of the buildings has only wire mesh walls and the other building is a protected historical structure.  These factors created unique opportunities for American Warehouse Systems to shine. The project included a very large Hytrol conveyor system including pallet conveyor, transfer beds for pallet induction, powered tote conveyor, and a spiral conveyor to raise the height of the totes quickly in the allotted space.  A very large enclosed conveyor crossover structure with two vertical continuous conveyors ... Bluebird Aero Systems MicroB UAV

I was eating dinner a few weeks back with a soldier that just returned from Iraq.  He was telling me about a UAV that they carried in a suitcase and how well it worked in an urban environment.  They could carry the lightweight unit to the top of a building and reconnoiter the entire area looking for hostiles or other potential troubles.  This UAV could be fitted with either a day or a night vision camera so illumination wasn't an issue. It sounded so interesting I thought I would research the UAV and blog about it.   He was speaking of the Bluebird MicroB.  NOTE: I am NOT affiliated with nor connected in any way with Bluebird.  I found it fasinating how technology can be used with such purpose.  ... Maintenance Platform for The 934th Airlift Wing

American Warehouse Systems was recently asked to help solve an access problem for the Air National Guard 934th Airlift Wing in Minneapolis MN.  The 934th Airlift Wing, also known as the "Flying Vikings," is Minnesota's only Air Force Reserve unit. It is a combat-ready Air Force Reserve Command flying unit, which serves as the Department of Defense's host for Army, Navy, Marine and Air National Guard units at the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport Air Reserve Station, MN. The aircraft maintenance personnel at the 934th Airlift Wing needed a safe and easy way to access the top of their C-130H3 aircraft for inspection and repair.  In addition to simple access the 934th needed to store tools and other equipment at wing level to eliminate the need ... Mezzanine System for Defense Logistics Agency

American Warehouse Systems was asked to design and implement a large mezzanine system for the Defense Logistic Agency in one of their California facilities.  DLA used to store materials in pallets on standard selective rack in the project area and they wanted to turn it over to a manual cart picking operation.  The system included a 40,000 sq. ft. mezzanine, over 4000 steel shelving units, Hytrol conveyor, fire suppression, lighting and electrical systems and floor resurfacing.  American Warehouse Systems was able to sell the project via our extensive GSA schedule including complete installation of all systems. The project went very well and was completed on time and on budget.  Defense Logistics Agency has reported they are very happy with the system and our performance on ... Read more

Material Handling System for US Embassy Praia

When the US Embassy Praia in Cape Verde were planning to build a new warehouse distribution center they contacted American Warehouse Systems. Cape Verde is an island country off the west coast of Africa and is a little hard to get to for most American material handling systems integrators.  The client initially had great concern regarding the project because of their remote location and the need to get so much product delivered and installed by their required date.   Because American Warehouse Systems implements systems worldwide this location posed no problem whatsoever and we happily jumped in.  American Warehouse Systems has over 8000 material handling  items and services on GSA contract so procurement of the entire system was completed through this Federal contracting vehicle. Our seasoned consultants ... Read more
