The HULC (Hulk) Exoskeleton

When a military member is in on the ground in a combat zone, they are usually required to carry a heavy load of supplies and equipment.  This increases the stress their bodies endure and can lead to injuries.  Lockheed Martin has come up with a way to solve that problem for the men and women fighting for our freedom. The HULC exoskeleton allows heavy load to be transferred to the ground through powered titanium legs without sacrificing mobility.  It is a completely un-tethered, hydraulic-powered anthropomorphic exoskeleton.  In layman’s terms, this means that the user is able to carry up to 200 extra pounds for extended periods of time and over a variety of terrains.  The HULC is so flexible the soldier is able to do ... Honor Flight

On May 23rd, 2012 something amazing happened at Reagan National Airport.  An airline employee announced to travelers awaiting their flights that an Honor Flight was arriving.  She invited everyone in the area to greet the WWII veterans as they deplaned.  What happened next speaks volumes for the respect Americans have for the men and women who served their country. American Warehouse Systems is extremely grateful for the service and sacrifice that the men and women of the Armed Forces have given in order to ensure our freedom. Read more

Robots in the US Military

Robots can have multiple purposes within the military, including deactivating unexploded bombs or clearing out hostile buildings.  When the United States introduced robots into the field, it completely changed how military members approached dangerous situations.  With a robot present, the risk to human life is drastically decreased.  If a human operator makes a mistake, it’s likely that the only casualty will be a robot, which can easily be replaced. So what exactly is a military robot?  It’s a machine that is controlled by an onboard computer that has sensors which allow them to get information from their surroundings.  Most times, robots are controlled by a military member using a joystick from a nearby location or vehicle.  Robots can come in a variety of forms, with ... Memorial Day 2012

Memorial Day is just around the corner.  This year please take a moment to reflect on the sacrifices our Armed Forces have made to protect our freedoms and the freedoms of others worldwide.  This Memorial Day we will remember and honor our fallen heroes; those people who have made the ultimate sacrifice.  It's difficult for most of us to truly appreciate what the deployed soldier lives through or the sheer tragedy for their loved ones when they don't return home.  This year please try to remember and honor them as you hold your family close knowing you are protected.  American Warehouse Systems would like to thank every single military member, past and present, for their service and dedication.  God Bless America! The Colt Army 1860; A Fine Piece of American History

The Colt Army Model 1860 is a muzzle-loaded cap and ball .44-caliber revolver.  It was used during the American Civil War and was made by Colt’s Manufacturing Company.  It was used as a side arm by cavalry, infantry, artillery troops, and naval forces.  It was one of the most popular handguns of its time, with over 200,000 units produced between 1860 and 1873.  It utilized an 8 inch barrel and had an effective range of 50-75 yards. While the Colt Army Model 1860 was a favorite in the Army, it was quite difficult to operate.  Each of the six chambers had to be loaded from the front, or muzzle end.  A precise amount of black powder was poured into the chamber, followed by a lead ...
