Mine-Resistant Ambush Protected Vehicles

Mine-Resistant Ambush Protected Vehicles, or MRAPs, are a family of armored fighting vehicles used in the military.  They are designed to withstand IED explosions and ambushes from enemy fighters.  After their implementation in Iraq and Afghanistan, roadside bomb attacks and fatalities were reduced by nearly 90%.  MRAPs can survive hits that would take out Humvees and other military vehicles, saving countless lives throughout the wars. The vehicles, which come in many designs, usually have a V-shaped hull that deflects explosive forces originating from below the vehicle.  This is especially important, since many IEDs are detonated as a result of being driven on.  They are heavily armored, which protect soldiers from gunfire and ambushes. High-Tech Weapon for the Revolution!

During the Revolutionary War, many soldiers carried a version of a flintlock pistol.  By today’s standards, flintlock weapons were very slow and inaccurate.  However, it was one of the most technologically advanced devices in its time. An expert shooter can expect to be able to fire three rounds per minute with this weapon and must be within 15 feet of the target in order to have any accuracy. A Homecoming Surprise

Sgt Dennis Clement was just finishing up his second tour of duty to Iraq when his little sister’s high school graduation rolled around.  Determined to see her walk across the stage, Sgt Clement returned the day before the ceremony.  He decided to surprise her during her graduation, which you’ll see on the video.  You might need some tissues for this one!
