Is Your Data Server Secure? Data Server Cages Provide Security

Safe & Secure | Warehouse Safety and Security Blog Series

Protecting your data; the lifeblood of your company.

Protecting your computer data goes beyond installing an anti-virus program. Installing a server cage is a core element in data security.

Data Server Cages control access to servers and network equipment

Data Server Cages control access to servers and network equipment, ensuring only authorized personnel have access.

In an increasingly digital world, your computer data is your company’s lifeblood. Millions of dollars worth of information could be stored on your company’s servers, from CRM information to personal employee information. Many companies will spend all of their effort preventing their information from an online attack by installing anti-virus and anti-spyware programs. However, it is very easy to forget to secure your actual, physical servers.

“The server room is the heart of your physical network, and someone with physical access to the servers, switches, routers, cables and other devices in that room can do enormous damage.” You need to control access to company servers and network equipment, ensuring that only authorized personnel have access.

Ensure data protection with server cages.

A Server Cage is a great, cost efficient way to protect that investment. These cages are modular, so that data centers can be rebuilt or reconfigured based on future requirements.  The wire mesh design provides safety for your servers without inhibiting ventilation or fire suppression systems while allowing cooling air to come in.

The wire mesh also allows you the flexibility to put your servers in any existing room. Unlike a more traditional “server room,” any room can be made into a server room with a simple wire mesh door providing security from anybody who enters the room. This allows for more efficient use of your warehouse or office space, turning a server room into a multi-purpose room while retaining the safety and security necessary to protect your company.

For additional durability, a stiffener bar can be added to the wire mesh and angle frame. Cages typically come with a standard hinged and sliding door with a key lock but other door and security configurations are available.

Picture a world where your computer data is completely gone, stolen, wiped out. Is that a risk you’re willing to take? If not, a Server Cage might be a worthwhile investment.
