Hand Grenades

Hand grenades are small bombs that have been around for hundreds of years.  Thrown by hand, they are designed to detonate after impact or after a set amount of time.  Grenades come in many varieties, with each type achieving a different result. The most common type used by the United States Military is the anti-personnel fragmentation grenade.  It is designed to disperse fragments upon detonation.  It’s typically made from steel, which provides fragmentation as shards and splinters.  Sometimes they use a pre-formed fragmentation matrix, which allows for better fragmentation.
